BASIC WINDOWS SHORTCUTS.......... Maybe you noticed, some apps get launched in the run box just by typing their names (for example iexplore.exe for IE, notepad.exe...). BOOKMARKLETS...........Each bookmarklet is a tiny program (a JavaScript application) contained in a bookmark which can be saved and used the same way you use normal bookmarks. They allow you to perform a variety of useful functions on any html page you have surfed to, e.g., change the font, read the cookies the site has passed to you, zoom, autoscroll, get the last update time and lots more. (OK, so they're only shell extensions if you buy Bill Gates' assertion that IE4 is now part of the Windows shell, but they're so useful!).....(freeware).....GO THERE!

CHARM..........Charm is used to enable and disable any visible window, or to reveal windows hidden from the user, or to see how an application performs during a system shutdown. If you are having trouble checking a tick-box, or entering text because the window is disabled, pick up the "Enable" target, and drop it on the window. Charm can also "Reveal All" of the child windows in a selected window, and "Expand" the window to include hidden elements off-screen. (Go to Power Tools and Freeware).....(free).....GO THERE!
CLIP GURU.......... ClipGuru is for the Windows user who prefers clipboard storage features unavailable in the standard Windows clipboard. ClipGuru gives users the ability to recall and reuse current and past clipboard contents, and to optionally save those clips into your own clip Sets for future use. ClipGuru Runs in the background and does not affect the normal use of the Windows clipboard. It simply grabs a copy of everything copied to the clipboard and saves it for you. COLOR CONTROL.......... Quite simply, color control is a Win utility which allows you to alter colors in the Windows95/98 GUI that are otherwise unchangeable. Color control's GUI is very similar to that of windows' display properties dialog, thus making it very familiar to the user. DESKTOP X.......... DesktopX is a powerful object framework for Windows. It allows users to create completely customized user environments. With it, desktops can be broken into individual parts that are called DesktopX objects that can be exchanged with other DesktopX users. As a result, virtually anything that doesn't require user input can be created quickly and easily. Creating a DesktopX theme or DesktopX object does not necessarily require any programming skill. DesktopX themes are resolution independent and are created via a simple GUI. DesktopX is part of Object Desktop, it is the component that gives users and corporations the power to decide their own interface to Windows in order to suit their needs and increase their productivity......(shareware, $19.95 after trial).....GO THERE!
DIRECTORY MONITOR UTILITY.......... Monitors file system changes in Windows NT/2000/XP. It allows you to select the folder and to customize the monitoring settings for the specified folder (the event list to process and some other options). The program can also monitor changes in subfolders if necessary. This program can work in the background and generates an HTML log of file system changes. The program can be integrated into the Windows' shell (setup creates the "Monitor" context menu item and GiPo@Utilities file/folder property page)......(free).....GO THERE!
DUPBLOCK.......... DupBlock is a text duplication utility that generates blocks of text that are alike except for one or more sequenced variables. DupBlock usage begins by specifying a default text block and using named variables in positions where you want to insert counter or list data. Variables can be counter-type variables that sequence + 1 from 0 (or from a user-defined starting value) OR a list of input data that is output sequentially as blocks are generated. Formatting for counter-type variables can use some aspects of 'printf' style formatting. The number of iterations performed is determined by the 'Repeat Block' field in the program dialog. Output can be sent to a file or the windows clipboard.....(free).....GO THERE!
EAT ICONS.......... This is a program that speeds up your Windows Explorer on Windows 95/98 by removing all those silly icons.....(free).....GO THERE!
ELEMENT ANCESTRY..........This is a bookmarklet which makes all elements on a webpage clickable, throwing up a prompt which shows the name of the element you clicked, and all its parents. It also includes any id or classnames that are attached to each element. Reload to make it go away. (Should work in IE 4+ and NS 6.) Bookmarklets are javascript routines you place in your IE Favorites. To use them, you just click on them in your Favorites and they run the script. You install them in your Favorites by right clicking on them, and choosing "ADD TO FAVORITES" from the menu. ENABLER (2)..........Windows Enabler is a program that runs on Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me/NT4.0/2000. It allows the user to enable disabled windows and controls such as buttons and tick boxes and choose menu options that would normally be disabled. This is obviously a very dangerous practice if used recklessly but having said that, you'd be surprised at how often it comes in handy. Windows Enabler has a very simple user interface; it appears as an icon in the system tray and can be turned on and off simply by clicking on it. Windows enabler may be freely distributed as long as the entire package (or a superset) is distributed unaltered .....(free).....GO THERE!
EPPIE..........Lets you replace your Windows buttons (max, min etc). It lets you change the startbutton too. (Hosted by our friends at Virtual Plastic).....(free).....GO THERE!
EVOODOO..........This tool emulates 3dfx hardware by translating the calls of the Glide API into Direct3D and by software emulation of some functions. To make it easier to use eVoodoo includes an internal automatic configuration system that allows it to choose the optimal quality/speed for each system. It does this by detecting the speed of your CPU and graphics card. FILE TARGETS.......... FileTargets is a shell context menu extension that adds a sub-menu with all your favorite folder names to the context-menu of all files and folders in your system so you can copy/move selected files to pre-defined, most used folders with the click of a mouse. FileTargets menu is similar to the standard SendTo menu but is much more advanced since it allows you to create subgroups, automatically add new folders, copy file path names and much more.....(free).....GO THERE!
FIRESTARTER..........According to the developer, "Some Win32 (Windows 95/98 or NT4) programs I've used seem to occupy far more of the task bar than they really warrant - the worst offender was Hummingbird's eXceed X server. While it was a great bit of software, it (at least the version I used) placed one icon there for each open window and one extra one, that I virtually never touched, for the server itself. I wrote this little utility to help give me back some of the task bar: you give it a command line and it "hides" all the icons associated with that program in one small entry in the system tray. GAG..........GAG (initials, in spanish, of Graphical Boot Manager) is a Boot Manager program. It's loaded when the computer is turned on and allows you to choose the operating system you want to use. Its main features are: Allows boot of up to 9 different operating systems. It can boot operating systems installed in primary and extended partitions on any available hard disk. Can be installed from nearly all operating systems. GAG doesn't need its own partition. It installs itself in the first track of the hard disk, wich is reserved for these kinds of programs. GAME SPEED ADJUSTER.......... Game Speed Adjuster is a powerful tool to adjust the speed of Windows games and applications. It can speed up games or speed down programs. IDEV SMTP RELAY SERVICE.......... Windows NT/2000/XP-Serviceapplication which can get mail from your mailclient using the SMTP protocol. It does resolve the recipients mailserver and sends out the email directly to these servers without the need of an outgoing mailserver. This means that the iDev SMTP Relay Service can act as outgoing mailserver so you don't need an outgoing mailserver eg. from your ISP anymore.....(free).....GO THERE!
INSTANT THUMBNAIL.......... Displays image thumbnails in a popup window when the mouse pointer hovers over an image file name in Windows Explorer. MADOTATE..........An English translation's now available again of this interesting tweak to the Win GUI. This is a program which will add another function button to each window, right next to the minimize button, but instead of minimizing the window, when pressed, the button will cause the window to flip up, its lower half receding into the distance. Thus, it'll store your windows "flattened" near the top of your screen, like so many stacked panes of glass. Each pane has a tab to tell you which it is. This is a very original and clever graphic hack. The program's author is Takayuki Shinohara. The English translation was done by Mr. GC, one of Shell City's long time friends, whose site went off the air a while back. OBJECT DOCK..........Stardock developed ObjectDock as a research project to see if Windows XP could reasonably handle the kinds of visual effects that are available on Apple's MacOS X. ObjectDock is a program that allows you to have a nice animated launchbar/taskbar on your screen that reacts to your mouse when you mouse over it. OPEN AS...........This program's was an orphan for a while, until Shell City began to host it after a long absence. This little gem adds the "Open as......" function to the right-click menu of almost any file on your computer. For example: Your text files are associated with Notepad, but you don't want to open a certain text file with Notepad. Just right-click the file, choose "Open as......", and find the program you want to open the file with. (Note: If you have MS OFFICE installed, don`t install this file, it will work fine, but some Office-options might not work anymore.) Contains uninstall-option.....(freeware)..... GO THERE!
PARTITION RESIZER.......... The first free program to resize and move partitions without data loss, with support for disks up to 2TB of size. Have you ever copied some text from a web page, a word document, help, etc., and wanted to paste it as simple text into another application without getting all the formatting from the original source? Better yet, you can configure a hot-key to convert and paste the text for you. The pasted text will be pure and free from all formatting. REGISTRY EDITOR EXTENSIONS...........As the name says, enhances the Registry Editor in Windows 95, 98 and NT 4.0. If you edit the same keys repeatedly, this is for you! A new combo box maintains the history of visited keys and allows quick navigation back to them. RUN WITH PARAMETERS..........Tiny tool allows running any application with a parameter. Instead of going to the Command Prompt, users can simply right-click an application and enter the parameters in the pop-up window .....(free).....GO THERE!
SCRAM DISK..........Scramdisk is a program that allows the creation and use of virtual encrypted drives. Basically, you create a container file on an existing hard drive which is created with a specific password. This container can then be mounted by the Scramdisk software which creates a new drive letter to represent the drive. The virtual drive can then only be accessed with the correct passphrase. Without the correct passphrase the files on the virtual drive are totally inaccessible (Go to dload link--yes, still available).....(free).....GO THERE!
SCROLLABLE DESKTOP.......... SDesk is not a multi-desktop program. It is a program that creates a single, giant desktop that extends beyond the visible region of the monitor. Only a portion of the SDesk is visible at a time, as defined by the Windows desktop settings. To facilitate the organization of windows on the SDesk, a tool window displays the position of all visible application windows. The SDesk Toolwin is interactive: the SDesk view can be moved, and windows on the SDesk can be moved via the Toolwin. More on the Toolwin later.....(free).....GO THERE!

SPEEDLOAD..........SpeedLoad monitors a program's activities and then optimises the application so it loads more quickly. SpeedLoad ensures that all DLL's any program uses are in different and non-overlapping addresses, and it ensures that the EXE is bound to the DLL's it uses......(free).....GO THERE!

START MANAGER.......... Do you constantly finding yourself using regedit to remove applications from start up? This program is for you. WheresJames Startup Manager runs in your system tray, it enables you to quickly enable/disable programs that start when windows does. It shows you the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE 'Run' and 'RunOnce' keys, the HKEY_CURRENT_USER 'Run' and 'RunOnce' keys, also the Common Startup and User Startup folders. The nice thing is it allows you to 'toggle applications on and off' by clicking them (Hint: Right click items to enable/disable them without the menu dissapearing). You will see a green check beside applications that will start up with windows. A red 'X' means that program is disabled. You don't have to worry about the details on this one, it is a simple to use tool.....(free).....GO THERE!
STARTER.......... As a primary purpose, Starter allows one to view and manage all the programs that start automatically whenever Windows is loading. It enumerates all the hidden registry entries, startup folders' items and some of the initialization files, so that the user could choose to temporarily disable selected entries, edit them, create new, or delete them permanently. Secondary purpose is to list all the running processes with possibility to view extended process information (such as used DLLs, memory usage, thread count, priorities etc.), and to terminate selected process (even a Windows NT service, having enough rights).....(free).....GO THERE!
STARTUP DELAYER.......... Can you learn another language in the time it takes for your machine to boot? Do you turn on your PC when you go to bed, so it's finished booting by the time you get home from work the next day? When Windows loads it's Startup file, it attempts to load every program in there at the same time. Therefore if you have quite a lot of programs starting when Windows starts, each program will try and grab CPU time so that it can load. If each program tries to do this at the same time, you soon notice the slow down that occurs, due to your CPU trying to help all the programs to load, and your hard disk accessing multiple files. STROKE IT.......... StrokeIt is an advanced mouse gesture recognition engine and command processor. What is a mouse gesture? Mouse gestures are simple symbols that you "draw" on your screen using your mouse. When you perform a mouse gesture that StrokeIt can recognize, it will perform the "action" associated with that gesture. UNDO REG.......... When you install a new program, the installation utility adds new data to your system registry, often unremoved after the uninstallation. You can have a record of exactly what the install program did using RegShot (available free at the site). UNDOReg analyzes the report generated by this utility, and deletes referenced registry keys. VDRIVE.......... VDrive is a virtual drive creator. It creates drives that are mapped to existing drives or folders that already exist on your computer. It has a nice interface and is very easy to use.....(free).....GO THERE!
WATCH CAT..........WatchCat is a small system tray applet for hiding application windows. Windows hidden by WatchCat also will disappear from taskbar and Alt+Tab chain. It's extremely convenient if you need to keep applications such as MS Outlook open all the time but don't check them often.....(free).....GO THERE!

WHAT IS A TURING MACHINE..........The first computer, and the fundamental design for all that followed. Think you know computers? Not if you don't know what a turing machine is .....(free).....G O THERE!
WIN CLEAN.......... An easy way to delete any or all of the following: Recent Documents MRU list, Temporary Files folder, Cookies folder, IE History, IE Temporary Internet Files, Any others, if you add them yourself, What's different from all the other batch files. It just takes one doubleclick from within Windows. , Then next time you reboot (and only the next time, until you choose to run it again) all that stuff will get deleted.
